(Omaha, NE) -- Public health leaders are asking people to be cautious around Omaha's Glenn Cunningham Lake because of toxins in the water. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services says samples taken from the lake earlier this week had dangerous amounts of blue-green algae. The Environmental Protection Agency says blue-green algae can cause rashes, stomach pain, and other health problems. The Department of Health and Human Services says boating and fishing are still allowed but people should avoid being exposed to the water. The department also says people should watch out for algae blooms at other lakes.
