(Iowa City, IA) -- The NCAA reports the Iowa and Iowa State women's basketball teams are near the top in attendance at women's games. The Iowa women's program ranked second nationally in total attendance, with 200,569 fans at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in 2022-23. The Iowa State women's program ranks 3rd.
Iowa says just over 11,000 fans attended Iowa's 17 home games. Iowa has been ranked in the national attendance top 10 each of the past four seasons with fans (2023, 2022, 2021, 2019). The No. 2 ranking is the highest in the Lisa Bluder era.
The Hawkeyes led the country in games and the team's last three home games were sellouts. In the Big Ten Tournament Championship, the Hawkeyes helped draw the largest crowd in Big Ten Tournament Championship history (9,505).
The NCAA reports Iowa State University's women's team ranked third in attendance, averaging just over 10,000 fans per home game. The Cyclone women's team also consistently ranks in the top 5 in attendance
South Carolina leads the nation in women's basketball attendance with nearly 13,000 fans per game.
