(Undated) -- Iowa's drought picture is improving, thanks to recent rains. This week's U-S Drought Monitor still shows the western third of Iowa either abnormally dry or in some form of drought. There are abnormally dry patches in parts of northeast and southeast Iowa. Two counties in northwest Iowa, Plymouth and Woodbury remain in extreme drought.
45% of the state is in no drought, the first time since a year ago the percentage has been that high.

23% of the state is in D-1, or in moderate drought.
6% in severe or extreme drought.
