(Johnston, IA) -- The Johnston School District has announced the promotion of an interim schools superintendent.
It comes following the resignation of former Superintendent Laura Kacer in February.
According to a release on the district's website, current Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Nikkie Roorda will serve in the role until a full time replacement can be found.
She's been with Johnston Schools since before 2019 and has taught in several Iowa districts, including Ankeny, West Des Moines and Montezuma.
Roorda was among more than a dozen candidates who applied for the interim post.
