(Lincoln, NE) -- Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana is working to get their initiative on the ballot in 2024, after failing in two prior election cycles.
On Thursday, NMM filed an initiative with the Secretary of State's office to put the issue on the ballot in 2024. The group tried to put the issue on ballots in 2020 and 2022, but failed in both attempts. In 2020, NMM collected enough signatures to get it on the ballot, but was struck down by the Nebraska Supreme Court on a single subject ruling. In 2022, the measure failed to gain enough signatures statewide.
NMM will need to get roughly 87,000 valid signatures to get it on the November 2024 ballot.
