(Thomson, IL) -- A former inmate at the United States Penitentiary in Thomson, Illinois is accused of killing their cellmate. This week 47-year-old Javier Gonzalez-Valenzuela of Sonora, Mexico pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and assault in the death of Shay Paniry. Paniry was killed on February 28th, 2021. Gonzalez-Valenzuela faces life in prison. He's now being held in federal custody.
