(Davenport, IA) -- A Quad Cities mental health facility is expanding its services.
Vera French Community Mental Health Center is adding more services to the Carol Center on North Harrison Street in Davenport.
CEO Richard Whitaker says they need more clinicians, therapists, prescribers, doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, who can help meet the demand of mental health crises that are showing up all across the Quad Cities.
The facility currently can serve up to 3,000 clients.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services ranks Iowa 44th in the country by the ratio of mental health providers to people who need the service.
The state has less than two providers for every 1,000 Iowans who need the service.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
