No-kill Animal Shelter Moving Out Of West Des Moines

(West Des Moines, IA) -- The no-kill Furry Friends shelter is now seeking a new location in town -- even though they just completed the build-out of their current facility in West Des Moines.

Shelter CEO Britt Gagna says local ordinances in West Des Moines will make it "impossible" for Furry Friends to continue there.

She says she does not believe the ordinances are being enforced fairly.

"Those ordinances can mean if there is one minor dog fight, that the city may indeed decide to seize that animal." according to Gagna.

She said earlier she plans to seek out a new location in Clive or Urbandale and doesn't want Furry Friends being blamed for any future shortfalls in animal service.
