No survivors in Friday morning plane crash near Kearney

(Kearney, NE) -- There are no survivors following a plane crash near Kearney.

There's no word from investigators yet about how many people may have been onboard the single engine plane, but the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office says anyone who may have been in the plane didn't survive. Investigators say the crash, about 12 miles east of Kearney, was reported by passersby just after 9:00 Friday morning. Emergency crews located the crash site in a field near the east side of Bassway Strip State Wildlife Management Area. The park is situated along the Platte River, south of Interstate 80.

No other details about who may have been onboard or what caused the crash have been released at this time. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating, along with local and state authorities.
