(Omaha, NE) -- A 32 year old man dies after a fiery crash in north Omaha.
Omaha Police say just after 2:30 Friday morning, officers were called to the area of I-680 and Mormon Bridge Road for a crash involving a semi and an SUV. Police say a Chevy Tahoe, driven by Vincent Macias, was westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-680. Investigators say the semi driver tried to avoid the crash, but the vehicles collided head on and both caught on fire.
The driver of the semi was able to get the truck, but Macias had to be extricated from his vehicle by the Omaha Fire Department. Macias was taken to Nebraska Medicine where he was eventually declared dead.
The interstate was reopened at 9:35am. The crash remains under investigation.
