(Clive, IA) -- Time is running out for the person who bought a valuable Mega Millions ticket last September to come forward. The Iowa Lottery says someone purchased a ticket for the September 6, 2022 drawing in Ames, and that ticket is worth $1 million.
Mary Neubauer of the Iowa Lottery says the ticket was purchased at The Filling Station/Gateway Express, 2400 University Blvd. in Ames. She says according to the retailer, it was a busy Labor Day holiday weekend because Iowa State had hosted its season-opening football game against Southeast Missouri State.
“This unclaimed prize is something that folks talk about every day in our store,” Mesecher said. “But we know a lot of people traveled to Ames that weekend. We keep telling people to check their tickets!”
The winner or winners of the $1 million prize have until the close of business on Sept. 6 of this year to claim it at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.
The winning numbers in the Mega Millions drawing on Sept. 6, 2022, were: 6-17-46-59-68 and Mega Ball 2. The Megaplier® number was 4.
The Filling Station/Gateway Expresse received a $1,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $1 million-winning ticket.
The Iowa Lottery says there are nine other hefty, unclaimed lottery prizes ranging from $10,000 to $150,000. Neubauer says many of the prizes were the result of large jackpots.
The other tickets were sold in Burlington, Des Moines, Dubuque, Ottumwa, Sheldon, Sioux City, and Urbandale.
