DES MOINES, Iowa -- Drought is continuing to expand across Iowa after another mostly rain-free week.
The new National Drought Monitor map shows more moderate and severe drought in Eastern and Southern Iowa.
Just over 98 percent of Iowa is under drought or near-drought conditions this week--largely unchanged from last week.
The map shows just two small drought-free areas in Northwest and Northeast Iowa.
The National Weather Service is forecasting chances of widespread rain across Iowa through the weekend.
