(Iowa) -- A new report from Iowa Workforce Development shows more Iowans joined the workforce in May, though the state's overall unemployment rate held steady.
The report shows a labor force participation rate increase to 68.5 percent in May, up from 68.3 percent the previous month. The state's overall unemployment rate remains at 2.7 percent, a full percentage point under the national unemployment rate of 3.7 percent. The education and health services industries saw the biggest employment gains in May. Iowa's overall civilian labor force is up to 1,734,800.
