(Silvis, IL) -- A large crowd turned out to cheer on University of Iowa Women's basketball player Caitlin Clark, at the John Deere Classic Pro-Am at TPC Deere Run. Clark was paired with Ludvig Aberg in the morning then fellow Iowa native Zach Johnson in the afternoon. The JDC began today with the Pro-Am and ends July 9th.
It's been another award winning year for Clark, who was recently won the 2023 Honda Sports Award by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).
Clark is the first Big Ten Conference women’s basketball player unanimously chosen as the National Player of the Year. Within the past month, she was also selected for that distinction by Associated Press, Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (Wade Trophy), United States Basketball Writers Association (Ann Meyers Drysdale Award), Naismith Trophy and The Athletic.
Clark is also the recipient of the Dawn Staley Award (nation’s top guard) for a record-setting third time, the Nancy Lieberman Award (nation’s top point guard) for the second year in a row, and she was selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) as the Women’s Basketball Academic All-America Team Member of the Year.
A native of West Des Moines, Iowa, Clark ranked second in the nation in scoring (27.8 ppg.) and first in assists (8.6 apg.), while adding 7.1 rebounds per game and recording five triple-doubles. She set Big Ten single-season records for points (1.055), assists (327), three-point field goals (140) and free throws (239), while tying her own conference record for triple-doubles in one year.
