(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The city of Cedar Rapids will pay $10,000 to settle a lawsuit for requiring five of the nine members of the police department's Citizen Review Board to be people of color.
This requirement was dropped after Kevin Wymore--a white man--sued the city, calling the requirement unconstitutional.
Wymore claimed he was passed over a spot two times, despite being qualified for the board.
The city dropped the member requirement last October when Wymore filed the lawsuit.
