(Sterling, IL) -- A crew from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is joining the investigation into a deadly apartment fire in Sterling, Illinois.
The fire on July 7 left one dead and two others injured.
The Chicago Field Division of the bureau requested help from ATF's National Response Team to determine the cause of the fire.
The NRT team includes a group of experts such as Special Agents, certified fire investigators, fire protection and electrical engineers, forensic chemists, certified explosives specialists, an intelligence research specialist, a medic, and a canine with a handler trained in detecting accelerants.
