(Iowa) -- The Iowa Department of Transportation says this fiscal year set a record for spending on road construction and infrastructure projects.
The DOT says since July of 2022 through June of this year, 1.47 billion dollars has been awarded to contractors through the DOT to improve Iowa's roads and bridges. Those funds were directed toward 839 projects across the state. Those include:
- $274.5 million on the state's farm-to-market roadways
- $358 million on the state's interstate system
- $26.8 million on the state's secondary system
- $136.8 million on the state's urban roads and bridges
