(Waverly, IA) -- A northeast Iowa man's large collection Trans Ams is going up for auction next month.
VanDerBrink Auctions says Bob Steely was inspired to start collecting the vehicles after seeing the movie Smoky and the Bandit, and by the time he died he had amassed 55 Trans Ams as well as 10 other vehicles and thousands of car parts at his acreage near Waverly, Iowa.
VanDerBrink says included in the collection are two rare NASCAR Trans Ams and the 1981 Indy Pace Car.
The auction is Friday, August 4th and Saturday August 5th.
