(Iowa City, IA) -- You'll soon be able to get around Iowa City for free.
Iowa City Transit's long-awaited fare-free program kicks off August 1st.
The two year pilot program will allow passengers to ride buses at no cost.
The program is aimed at improving access to safe, affordable, reliable and sustainable transportation.
Transit officials say they won't be offering refunds to bus pass holders, who are being advised to use up those rides before they become free next week.
