(Hardin County, IA) -- The excessive heat in Iowa has provided some fuel for some strong storms early this (Friday) evening. Storms prompted tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings in north central and northeast Iowa. There were also reports of hail ranging in size from ping pong ball to baseball size.
The National Weather Service says strong storms are possible until later this evening in the northern half of Iowa.
