Man Wanted In Arizona Woman's Murder Arrested In Des Moines

(Des Moines, IA) -- An Arizona murder suspect has been caught in Des Moines. Police in Arizona had been looking for 45-year-old Turrail Lightfoot for nearly a year. He's accused of killing 37-year-old Latoya Davis in Phoenix on August 25th, 2022. Lightfoot is also accused of shooting and injuring a second person on that date.

Agents and officers with the U.S. Marshals Service Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, 5th Judicial District Fugitive Unit, and Homeland Security Investigations arrested Lightfoot without incident late Thursday night in the 4900 block of N.E. 14th Street.

“The Arizona WANTED Task Force is grateful for the quick action and successful apprehension of Lightfoot by the Marshals

Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force,” said Acting U.S. Marshal, Van Bayless. “Lightfoot is a dangerous fugitive who has shown complete

disregard for the community here in Phoenix and soon will return to answer for his violent actions.”

Lightfoot is in the Polk County Jail awaiting extradition back to Arizona.

Lightfoot is the second suspect wanted on violent criminal charges arrested in Des Moines this month. Twenty-sevehn-year-old Wylee Orr was arrested July 20th in the 36-hundred block of Holcomb Avenue in Des Moines. He's facing homicide charges in Cleveland, Ohio.

Officers with the U.S. Marshals Service were also involved in arresting a man wanted in a Des Moines case. Forty-four-year-old Leroy Buttrom was wanted in a shooting in a Des Moines hotel parking lot in October of 2022. Buttrom was arrested on July 14th, 2023 in Portage, Indiana.
