(Bettendorf, IA) -- The westbound span of the old Interstate-74 bridge will be demolished this weekend. The Iowa Department of Transportation says the controlled explosion will happen Sunday, August 27th. If the weather is good the demolition could happen as early as 7:00 a.m. Traffic on the new bridge will be closed for about an hour while the demolition takes place.
