(Cedar Falls, IA) -- The Waterloo-Cedar Falls area hit a record 105 degrees Wednesday. The University of Northern Iowa's Student Life Division took pity on students walking on campus this week by handing out frozen treats. Classes at UNI began on Monday of this week.

The Excessive Heat Warning is expected to expire at 7 p.m. tonight for most of Iowa, including Black Hawk County. The warning will expire at 8 p.m. for east central and southeast Iowa, including the cities of Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Davenport.

The National Weather Service is forecasting much tolerable weather Friday and this weekend, with temperatures in the 80s and less humidity.
