State Center Police Note Resistance To Automated Traffic Cameras

(Des Moines, IA) -- One rural Iowa police force is noting that the town it serves is unlikely to support automated traffic cameras any time soon.

In a Facebook post from the State Center Police Department, they say after the speed limit was lowered on Eastman Avenue, many motorists have been concerned about seeing the cameras.

In clarifying the presence of crime monitoring technology in town this week, the State Center Police Department informed residents the local council has said NO -- to participating in Automated Traffic Enforcement.

The police department says they only use cameras to solve crimes.

New automated traffic cameras in nearby Marshalltown have been the subject of discussion in recent weeks.
