Rock Island Man Facing Charges For Break-In And Assaulting An Officer

(Kewanee, IL) -- A Rock Island man is in custody for breaking in to a motorcycle store and punching an officer over the weekend.

Police received a call Sunday about a break-in at Reiman's Harley Davidson on North Main Street.

According to a news release on Facebook from the Kewanee Police Department, officers located 42-year-old Lucas Owens in an alley upon arrival.

As one officer asked Owens to turn around with his hands up, Owens began punching the officer several times.

Other officers were able to assist and complete the arrest using a taser.

Owens was then transported to OSF Saint Luke Hospital to be treated for minor injuries before he was then booked into the Henry County Jail.

The officer who was punched during the arrest was treated by ambulance personal for minor scratches and swelling near his left eye.

Owens is facing numerous charges.
