(Waukee, IA) -- The mother of a one-year-old child who died last month in Waukee is now charged in the child's death. Twenty-six-year-old Yemissi Keto is charged with First Degree Murder and Child Endangerment Resulting in Death. Police were called to a home in the 200 Block of NW Greenwood Place August 31st after a report of an unresponsive child. The child could not be revived by first responders.
Waukee Police Chief Chad McCluskey said, “this arrest is the culmination of an exhaustive investigation by the Waukee Police Department team. I am extremely proud of the work our officers do every day to bring cases to a successful resolution and keep our community safe.” Chief McCluskey further extended gratitude to the Dallas County Attorney’s Office, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, and the University of Iowa Police Department for their unwavering support and assistance throughout the investigation.
