GOP Candidates Speak to Faith Voters During Weekend Summit

(Des Moines, IA) -- Ten Republican presidential candidates stopped in Des Moines this weekend for the Faith and Freedom Coalition banquet. Topics mainly centered around abortion, education, and faith. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was the first candidate to speak during the event.

"I'm pro-life, I'll be a pro-life governor, I'll be a pro-life president. Clearly a state like Iowa has been able to move the ball with pro-life protection. Florida has been able to move the ball," DeSantis said, while being interviewed on stage by Faith and Freedom Coalition founder and chairman Ralph Reed.

South Carolina U.S. Senator Tim Scott spoke in support of school choice, saying he would make Iowa's private education funding law a model for a nationwide system. "When the parents have choice, the kids have the best chance for success," Scott said. Scott was interviewed on stage by Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird.

Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson told the crowd he didn't think the U.S. House investigation into foreign business dealings by the Biden family should be called an "impeachment inquiry."

"As a former federal prosecutor, that there's unanswered questions and a lot of smoke, whenever you look at the international dealings of the Biden family, and whether the president or vice president got benefit that influenced his decision," Hutchinson said, "that's the fundamental question."

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds also spoke at the beginning of the evening. Reynolds said people could see how powerful it is, "when citizens stand up, and make themselves heard, even when it's really, really, hard."
