(Iowa City, IA) -- The City of Iowa City says ridership has increased since the start of Fare Free Iowa City in August.
In an announcement from the city Wednesday, there has been a 53% increase in ridership since the start of Fare Free Iowa City.
That's according to data collected from the Iowa City Transportation Staff.
This past August, about 131,000 trips were recorded, an increase of almost 46,000 compared to August 2022.
The Iowa City's Transportation Director, Darian Nagle-Gamm, says he is excited to watch residents take advantage of the transit program.
