(Iowa City, IA) -- A protest by dozens of University of Iowa grad students has shutdown the Board of Regents meeting. The union for University of Iowa grad students staged a protest demanding a 25-percent emergency pay raise. They claim their salary is below the living wage for Johnson County. The Regents, who ended their meeting amidst the protest, say grad students are paid on par with other Big Ten Schools, and get free tuition and health benefits on top of their salary.
