Fall Weather Transition Brings Summer- like Storms

The Meteorologists at the Omaha National Weather Service office in Valley say there is a slight risk of severe weather for Thursday beginning later in the afternoon.

They say the threat includes hail, winds, and at least the possibility of tornadoes.

Heavy rain and localized flooding are also possible, especially between I-80 and the Nebraska-South Dakota line.

They also say strong winds are expected across the region Thursday and Friday.

The forecasters say on Thursday, south of the warm front (southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa), winds will be out of the south with gusts up to 35 m.p.h.

North of the warm front (northeast Nebraska), winds will be easterly gusting up to 40 m.p.h.

Friday, behind the cold front, strong northerly winds will be in the region with gusts of 45-50 m.p.h. possible.
