100 Dogs Rescued From Iowa Pet Hoarding Property

(Carroll Co., IA) -- Iowa pet shelters are handling another influx of rescues following a discovery in Carroll County last week.

According to a news release from the sheriff's department, more than 100 dogs were rescued from a property Friday outside Lanesboro, Iowa.

Authorities described it as a pet hoarding situation, and not a puppy mill.

The release says the dogs were 'living in various stages of filth" although they were being fed.

Along with the dogs, they say 50 goats, several miniature horses, a miniature donkey and a cow were found on the property as well.

The name of the property owner is Kris Jacob.

The dogs are now in the care of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in Des Moines.

An investigation is ongoing.
