The City of Omaha is powering down stop lights at seven intersections across the city, as a test.
Public Works will study the intersections for 60 days to gain public input and see if it is safe to remove the lights permanently.
The locations are
-144th and U Streets
-16th and William
-33rd and Davenport
-38th and California
-20th and Pierce
-43rd Avenue and Cuming Streets
- 16th and Davenport Streets
The study is part of the plan to modernize Omaha’s traffic light and signal system.
Twenty-nine traffic signals have been removed from the City of Omaha area since 2017.
