(Story County, IA) -- A Story County man is dead after crash involving an S-U-V and a semi. The Sheriff's Office says a Chevy Suburban driven by Mark Cunningham of rural Nevada collided with a Semi at an uncontrolled intersection at 590th Avenue and 210th Street around 5 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday). Cunningham was killed. The semi driver has minor injuries.
Two dogs in the Chevy survived and were taken to a local vet.
The Story County Sheriff's Office is reminding drivers to slow down or come to a complete stop at uncontrolled intersections and look in all directions before proceeding. The Sheriff's Office says doing so is especially important when visibility is reduced due to crops, weather conditions, or dust. The vehicle entering the intersection first has the right of way. When vehicles arrive at the same time, the driver on the left should yield to the driver on the right.
