(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The first school bond referendum in Cedar Rapids in twenty years is a fail. Voters overwhelmingly rejected a request from the Cedar Rapids School District for 220 million dollars to upgrade facilities
Plans included building a new middle school, and renovating Franklin Middle School. New turf fields, and career and tech additions were also planned for Kennedy, Jefferson, and Washington High Schools.
The bond needed 60-percent support, but only received 39-percent.
