(Johnston, IA) -- The Johnston Police Department is welcoming its first K9 unit.
The city says "Buck" is the first K9 member of the Johnston Police Department and is highly trained and certified in multiple areas related to police work, including evidence recover, detecting explosives, and more. His handler, Officer Dylan Petermeier, joined the Johnston Police Department in 2019 after serving in the U.S. Air Force for six years.
"Buck" is a Belgian Malinois.
