(Iowa) -- The Iowa Department of Transportation says 2023 is the deadliest year on Iowa roads in the last five years.
A new DOT report says deaths are up over 8% from this time last year, with a total of 323 deadly crashes this year compared to 297 last year. The DOT says people not wearing seatbelts were involved in 46% of fatal crashes.
