(Des Moines, IA) -- The Cedar Rapids Gazette is reporting that a group of 100 Iowa doctors are criticizing the state's proposed rules for administering the Fetal Heartbeat Law restricting abortions beyond six weeks.

The guidelines from the Iowa Board of Medicine would require doctors to question women claiming exceptions for rape or incest on when, where, and how the incident occurred, and with whom. The Gazette says that in a letter to the Board of Medicine, the group of doctors says that information is unnecessary to provide medical care.

Iowa's Fetal Heartbeat law is currently held up in the courts. Current Iowa law restricts abortions beyond 20 weeks.
