(Des Moines, IA) -- Runners from all around took part in the Annual Turkey Trot (5K, five mile, and tot trot events) in downtown Des Moines on Thursday morning. Family, friends, and even people from out of state took part.
"It was great, it was the best start to my Thanksgiving I could have asked for," said Josi Barscz, a student at Des Moines University and native of Indiana. "It's beautiful, wonderful, feels so good on the lungs, (I) just wish it was snowing."
"It was a little cold, (we) should have layered up more," said Laney Kass, who attended the run with Landon Smithhart. "When we got moving, it got a lot warmer," Smithhart said, it was definitely hard, but we persevered and we made it." They say they'll participate next year.
According to the Runner's World website, the Des Moines Turkey Trot started in 2014.
