(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines man is facing charges after fatal crash.
Des Moines Police say on Thursday morning an officer tried to make a traffic stop as 46 year-old Shawn Bowersock was driving a car with fraudulent license plates when Bowersock tried to flee. Investigators say Bowersock lost control of the car and landed in a ditch. The passenger in his car was critically injured and later died of her injuries at a local hospital. Police identified the passenger as 66 year-old Connie Allison.
The crash happened near Southeast 5th Street and Hughes Avenue a little after 1:30am Thursday. Bowersock was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Police say there was an active arrest warrant for Bowersock at the time.
He's now facing multiple charges.
