Unionized state workers in Nebraska would prefer to work remotely, according to the Nebraska Association of Public Employees, which opposes a recent executive order from Governor Pillen that directs virtually all state employees who have been working remotely to return to their offices by January 2nd.
The union says those responding to a survey overwhelmingly voiced opposition to the executive order.
The union continues to call for negotiations with the state, arguing the remote-work issue is not addressed in the workers' contract.
They say they expect to hear back from the Governor's office next week.
The Governor says there is an expectation from taxpayers that state government offices should now be staffed and open.
