(Blair, NE) -- Authorities are investigating the death of a Catholic priest early Sunday morning. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says it responded to a break-in at the rectory of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun at just after 5 a.m. The Archdiocese of Omaha says in a statement that Father Stephen Gutgsell was transported to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha after being injured during the incident, and later died. One man was taken into custody in connection to the case.
