(Des Moines, IA) -- National Weather Service forecasters are predicting mostly cooler than normal weather for the nation for the next 8-14 days. The NWS is also predicting above normal precipitation
Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Des Moines expect clouds for most of today (New Year's Day), though some clearing is expected to spread from west to east across the state this afternoon.
Partly sunny and slightly warmer conditions are forecast on Tuesday before a cold front arrives early Wednesday. Cooler readings are expected on Wednesday into Thursday but still above normal for this time of year. A brisk northwest wind is also forecast for Wednesday. There is little chance for precipitation during the week.
