(Boone County, IA) -- Approximately 200 Iowans bundled up and spent part of their day at Ledges State Park in Boone County. The annual First Day hike has become a tradition for many at state parks in Iowa and throughout the nation. Park Ranger Clint Peterson says it's cold, but a refreshing way to spend the first day of the new year. Participants this year had the added bonus of taking part in a chili feed after the hike, hosted by the Friends of Ledges State Park. The group is helping to raise money to celebrate the park's 100th birthday.
