(Rock Island, IL) -- The City of Rock Island is getting nearly a million dollars to improve the clubhouse at Saukie Golf Course.
On Wednesday, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker declared over $28 million in state grant funding thanks to the Illinois' Park and Recreational Facility Construction Act grant program.
Rock Island received more than $900,000 and will use it to replace the golf course clubhouse.
The city's website says the 95-year-old clubhouse will be replaced with a new facility to better serve golfers and all users while still maintaining the golf course's historical significance.
The new clubhouse will feature a meeting space, seating areas, a kitchen and dining room area, two golf simulators and outdoor seating facing the course.
