(Undated) -- A new lawsuit accuses the state of Iowa of pursuing an investigation into gambling by student-athletes without cause.
The lawsuit, filed by former Iowa State defensive lineman Isaiah Lee, says an agent from Iowa's Department of Criminal Investigation used a data harvesting tool to single-out people using online gambling apps on University of Iowa and Iowa State campuses
The filing says the agent had no tip, evidence, complaint, or warrant to investigate.
The DCI has yet to respond to a request for comment on the accusations in the lawsuit.
Dozens of student-athletes were punished as a result of the investigation.
