"Person of Interest" In Fort Dodge Homicide In Custody

(Webster County, IA) -- A man northern Iowa investigators are calling a "person of interest" in a homicide case has been taken into custody. A search warrant was executed today (Wednesday) at a residence on Bode, Iowa.

Law enforcement made numerous attempts to make contact with Mr. Dayton inside the residence and were unsuccessful. Multiple tactics were utilized to manage the incident and safeguard the well‐being of both Mr. Dayton, the community, and law enforcement.

The Webster County Sheriff's Office says Dayton exited the residence, and the situation was successfully resolved. Mr. Dayton is now in custody for his Parole Violation warrant out of Pocahontas County, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
