(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The Cedar Rapids Fire Department is investigating a garage fire.
Fire crews were called to the 700 block of Ashford Dr. NE Tuesday at around 3:28 p.m. for reports of a garage fire.
Upon arrival, crews found the garage fully engulfed in flames and were able to quickly extinguish the fire before it spread to the living quarters of the home.
Two adults were able to escape quickly, one cat was able to escape with a second located by firefighters and brought out to safety, and a pet dog was found a distance away from the home and was returned to its owners safely by police.
The garage is deemed a total loss, with two cars inside damaged.
Firefighters say the fire was accidental.
