Five Soldiers Heading To Philippines To Train And Advise Philippine Army

(Rock Island Arsenal, IL) -- Five soldiers from the Rock Island Arsenal are heading to the Philippines to help advise and train the Philippine Army.

They will be deployed to the Philippines in March and will spend six to nine months there, and will also attempt strengthen relations with the ally country.

On Sunday, February 4th, the soldiers from 6th Battalion, 54th Security Force Assistance (6/54th SFAB) were honored during a ceremony in Heritage Hall on Rock Island Arsenal before they deploy to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility.

The 6th Battalion, based at Rock Island Arsenal represent the logistics experts in the 54th SFAB.

The Philippine army is currently fighting an Islamic insurgency.
