(Coal Valley, IL) -- Animal enclosures are on the ground, and plans are up in the air at Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley.
The mid-January snowstorm caused severe damage at the Zoo, putting their April opening in jeopardy.
Several animal enclosures were collapsed by heavy snow, and some buildings were also damaged.
Niabi Zoo Director Lee Jackson tells WQAD News 8 that insurance will pay for some, but not all of the damage. He says they will need the help of the entire Niabi Zoo community to get back to operating normally.
