Lincoln Police Report Costly Fraud Case

Lincoln Police say an elderly resident loses thousands of dollars in a scam.

Investigators say earlier this week, Lincoln Police went to a residence on a report of a fraud.

Officers spoke with an elderly person, who reported recently receiving phone calls and letters from people claiming to be from the "Federal Trade Commission."

Police say the victim was told she was being investigated for money laundering occurring in Texas and was instructed to order a gold bar from an online company and have it shipped to her house.

Upon receiving the bar, she was instructed to meet an "agent" at 27th and Superior, where she was told to put the gold bar in the back of a white sedan which left the scene.

Police say the loss was $66,984.00
